Elian Sant

The church sits on a quiet headland between Conwy and Abergele, easy to miss if you're not looking for it. Elian Sant is a proper old place - the current building dates to the 13th century, though there's been a church here since medieval times, and the setting alone makes the short detour worthwhile. The views across the coast are excellent, and there's something about standing in a centuries-old church with the Irish Sea visible through the windows that hits differently than your standard Sunday service.

It's a working parish church, so you'll need to catch it when it's open - worth ringing ahead or checking the Conwy church finder online if you're making a special trip. The interior is modest and genuine, no crowds or gift shop nonsense. History buffs will appreciate the medieval bones of the place; walkers heading along the North Wales coast path often swing by. It's not a massive draw - you'll spend perhaps twenty minutes here - but it's the kind of atmospheric spot that makes a caravan holiday feel more exploratory than park-based.

If you're based at Plas Farm or Bron-y-Wendon, both within three miles, Elian Sant works well as a morning walk before heading to Abergele's beach or pushing further along the coast. The churchyard itself is peaceful, proper windswept on a blustery day. Not essential viewing, but if you like old churches and quiet corners, this one's worth the petrol.
