Ebrington Hill

The walk up Ebrington Hill rewards you with proper views across the Cotswolds - rolling hills stretching out in layers of green, particularly stunning on a clear day when you can pick out the distant ridges. It's only about 350 metres, so not a serious climb, but it's steep enough that you'll feel you've earned the vista.

This is walkers' territory, really. The hill sits just outside Chipping Campden, so it works brilliantly as a half-hour detour if you're already in the area exploring the town's high street or visiting the church. Families with young kids might find the ascent a bit of a slog - the gradient's relentless - though determined toddlers do make it.

There's no visitor infrastructure up top, which is fine. No fees, no gift shop, just you and the view. Go early morning or late afternoon when you've got the place to yourself and the light's doing something interesting with the landscape.

Even Ranch Caravan Park, a few miles further out, is close enough for a half-day adventure. The hill slots perfectly into a Cotswolds park holiday where you're mixing gentle strolls with proper walks - it's ambitious enough to feel worthwhile but brief enough that you're not committing your whole day. On a grey afternoon it's forgettable, but catch it right and it genuinely impresses.
