Dursley Dog Park is a proper off-lead space where your pooch can burn energy without you needing to wrestle them back on the lead every thirty seconds. It's the sort of place that makes sense if you're doing a caravan holiday around Gloucestershire and your dog's getting cabin fever.

The park itself is straightforward - open grassland where dogs can sprint about, sniff each other, and generally behave like dogs do. You'll see everything from anxious terriers to overconfident Labradors who think they're tiny. It's free, which helps, and you can usually show up whenever suits you. Allow half an hour to an hour depending on how long your dog wants to play and whether they've made new mates.

Who gets the most out of it? Anyone with an energetic dog, really. If you're staying at Pepper Pot or The Riverside near Gloucester, this becomes a handy afternoon stop. Less useful if you've got elderly dogs or ones that get spooked by pack behaviour. Kids might find it dull after five minutes - dogs running about doesn't hold children's attention the way, say, an adventure playground would.
