About Duckpit Hill
The climb itself takes the best part of an hour depending on your pace and which route you take. It's not steep in the way Pendle Hill is brutal, but it's no gentle stroll either. Once you're up there, you get sight lines across farmland and moorland stretching toward the Forest of Bowland - genuinely lovely in clear weather, a bit anticlimactic if it's drizzle and low cloud, which in Lancashire it often is.
This is squarely a walkers' hill rather than a sit-down attraction. Families with older kids will find it worthwhile; the younger ones might flag on the descent. History types get less out of it than they would from Clitheroe's castle or Pendle itself, but if you're after a genuine moorland walk without committing to a full day's trek, it slots in nicely.
Stay at one of the caravan parks scattered around the area - Cross Lane is closest at just over two miles away, or you've got Clitheroe Camping and Caravanning Club Site a bit further out. Use Duckpit as your morning walk, then head into Clitheroe for lunch. Properly worth the time if you're already in the valley.
