Dane's Camp

What you're looking at when you reach Dane's Camp is the remains of an Iron Age fort - earthworks that have survived over two thousand years on the Buckinghamshire downs, a few miles outside Aylesbury. The site consists of defensive banks and ditches that once enclosed a settlement, though there's not much left to photograph unless you're genuinely interested in archaeology. You won't find a visitor centre or interpretation boards, which is either refreshing or frustrating depending on your perspective.

The walk itself is pleasant enough - you're out in open countryside with decent views across the landscape. Don't go out of your way specifically for Dane's Camp, but if you're camping nearby and fancy a walk with a bit of historical context, it's worth an hour of your time.
