Cuddington Waste

Woodland paths wind through this slice of Cheshire countryside between Oakmere and Delamere Forest proper. Don't expect anything too dramatic - this is gentle forest walking rather than towering ancient oaks. The terrain stays fairly level, making it manageable for most families, though you'll want proper footwear as paths can get muddy after rain.

Dog walkers seem to love the place, and you'll often have the trails largely to yourself during weekdays. The forest connects to the broader Delamere network, so keen walkers can easily extend their route into the main forest areas. Kids might find it a bit samey after an hour unless they're really into woodland exploration.

Being so close to Delamere Forest Camping and Caravanning Club Site, it's handy for a morning constitutional if you're staying nearby. The forest also links well with visits to the main Delamere attractions - think of this as the quieter, less developed cousin. You won't find visitor centres or cafes here, so bring your own refreshments.

Allow a couple of hours if you want to explore properly, though a quick dog walk takes thirty minutes. It's free to wander, naturally, and accessible year-round. Autumn brings lovely colour, but spring probably offers the best walking conditions before the summer crowds hit the main Delamere areas.
