Càrn Fiaclach

The walk up Càrn Fiaclach from Pitlochry takes roughly two hours each way, and it's one of those hills that rewards you properly for the effort. You're looking at decent views across Perthshire once you crest the top - the Tummel Valley spreads out below, and on a clear day the perspective shifts how you see the whole area.

It's a straightforward hill walk rather than a technical scramble. The path is reasonably well-trodden, though muddy stretches are inevitable even in dry spells. Families with older kids (nine or ten upwards) will manage it fine; younger ones might struggle with the sustained climb. Experienced walkers won't find it demanding, but it's far from dull.

The location matters here. Pitlochry itself is packed with visitors year-round, which means the hill stays quieter than you'd expect - most people stick to the lower-level attractions. Go early morning if you want solitude, or save it for shoulder season when Autumn colours make the walk genuinely special.

If you're camping at Tighnavon Glamping Pods just down the road, this becomes an obvious half-day objective. Even from Kilvrecht Campsite a few miles further out, it's an easy reach. Free to walk, naturally, and worth the time investment if you're in the area for a few days rather than passing through.
