Corse Grove

Corse Grove is a proper woodland walk just outside Gloucester - the kind of place you'd drive past without noticing if someone hadn't tipped you off. It's a small forest pocket, nothing vast, but genuinely lovely for an hour or so if you're staying at one of the caravan parks nearby like Millavon or Pelerine. The trees are dense enough to feel like you've actually left civilization, which is saying something when you're this close to town.

Walkers will get the most from it. It's not a stroll-round-the-shops kind of place - you need proper footwear and a bit of time to explore the paths properly. Kids might manage 45 minutes before the novelty of trees wears off, though if they're the type to hunt for wildlife it could hold their attention longer. There's enough woodland to poke around without needing a full day.

I'd aim for late afternoon, when the light starts slanting through the canopy and the place feels less like a daytime walking spot. Spring is probably your best bet if you want to see the woodland actually doing something interesting. Don't expect facilities - there's no visitor center or cafe, so bring water and don't rely on phone signal.

As a quick break from caravan life around Tewkesbury or Gloucester, it works well. Not a destination in itself, but absolutely worth the detour if you're in the area and fancy stretching your legs properly. The admission situation and opening hours aren't clearly published, so ring ahead or check locally - better than driving out and finding it gated.
