Combpyne (St Mary the Virgin) Church

The church sits quietly at the heart of Combpyne village, a proper little sanctuary if you're walking the Devon lanes between Bridport and the coast. St Mary the Virgin is the kind of place that rewards a ten-minute detour - medieval stonework, a decent bell tower, and enough space inside to actually hear yourself think. The graveyard's worth a wander too, particularly if you like reading old inscriptions.

It's not a showstopper attraction. You're not going to spend hours here, and kids will likely get restless after twenty minutes unless they're genuinely interested in old churches. If you're based at one of the nearby parks for a week, it's well worth the walk. If you're driving through? Probably not a dedicated stop, unless you're church-ticking your way round Devon.
