The woodland around Coed Ty-croes offers a proper escape from the caravan parks clustered near Abergele. It's modest - we're talking a working forest rather than some manicured nature reserve - but that's precisely why it works. You get genuine quiet here, ancient trees, and the kind of paths that actually feel like you've left civilisation behind.

The walk itself is straightforward enough for families, though it's not exactly adventure playground territory. Children will enjoy spotting the wildlife and the fresh air does what it's supposed to do. If you're staying at Bron-y-Wendon or Plas Farm, you're only minutes away, which makes this ideal for a morning walk before heading to the coast proper. The forest runs between small roads, so navigation is simple - just follow the main trails and you won't get lost.

Admission appears to be free, which is refreshing given how many attractions these days want a tenner just to look at a tree.
