Cnoc Croite na Moile

The walk up Cnoc Croite na Moile is a proper wee gem if you're based around Beauly and fancy something without the crowds. It's not a towering monster - more of a modest Highland bump that rewards you with genuinely good views across the Beauly Firth and towards Ben Wyvis. The ascent is straightforward enough, nothing that'll have you swearing at your boots, and the whole thing takes a couple of hours return if you're not dawdling.

This is ideal terrain for walkers who want honest Scottish hills without the full day commitment. Families with older kids will manage fine, though younger ones might find it a bit dull - there's no river to paddle in and the summit's more about the vista than any structure or drama. On a clear day you can see proper distances, which makes the effort feel worthwhile.

There's no visitor centre or facilities at the top, so bring what you need. It's free, naturally, and you can tackle it year-round though spring and autumn tend to be kindest for the light. If you're staying at Beauly Holiday Park, this makes a decent morning out before lunch in town. The drive from the park is negligible, maybe ten minutes, and it pairs well with a wander around Beauly itself or a longer outing to one of the bigger peaks nearby. The ground can be boggy after rain, so pick your moment.
