Clunton Hill

The walk up Clunton Hill takes about forty minutes from Craven Arms, and it's one of those Shropshire summits that rewards you properly without demanding a full day's expedition. You're looking at decent views across the South Shropshire landscape - rolling farmland, distant ridges, the kind of vista that explains why people bother with hills at all.

It's free, obviously. No facilities up top, no café, no visitor centre nonsense. Just grass, sky, and the sense that you've earned a quiet moment. The path is straightforward enough for most fitness levels, though it can be boggy after rain - typical hill country stuff.

Families with older kids will find it manageable. Younger ones might grumble about the gradient, but it's not steep enough to be a genuine slog. Serious walkers treating it as a tick on the Shropshire peaks list will be done in under two hours including the views. History types won't find much drama here - it's a natural hill, not a castle or Roman fort.

Stay at one of the glamping spots within a few miles - Shropshire Luxury Glamping is closest at 1.8 miles, or try Wild Valley or Shropshire Hills Glamping if you want something with more character. The location works well as a morning walk before heading into Craven Arms for lunch. It's solid hill country, unpretentious and honest.
