Church Rock

A craggy lump of rock jutting out of the Pembrokeshire coastline near Pembroke, Church Rock is exactly what its name suggests - nothing more, nothing less. You won't find a chapel or ruins; the name likely refers to its shape or some long-forgotten local legend. What you do get is a proper coastal feature worth a brief detour if you're exploring this stretch of Welsh coast.

The rock sits visible from the shore, and depending on the tide, you might be able to walk closer to it. It's the sort of thing that takes five minutes to look at properly, snap a photo, and move on. Walkers tackling the Pembrokeshire Coast Path will pass near it; historians won't find much to sink their teeth into. Families with young kids might find it mildly interesting for about ten minutes before asking what's for lunch.

The real draw is the broader coastal landscape. You're in proper rugged terrain here, with cliffs and inlets that reward exploration. Church Rock works best as part of a longer coastal walk rather than a standalone destination. Time it around the tide if you want to get right up to it.

Stay at Sky Meadow Glamping (2.8 miles away) or Parke Farm Camping (3.1 miles) and you're perfectly positioned to explore this section of coast. King's Mill Camping (4.7 miles) also offers decent access. The rock itself is free to view, obviously - it's a rock. Allow 10-15 minutes if you're stopping specifically; much longer if you're treating it as part of a coastal ramble.
