Central Church

The granite-fronted Central Church sits solidly in Fraserburgh's town centre, a proper Victorian statement of stone and purpose. Built in the mid-1800s, it's the sort of kirk that commands respect the moment you clock it - all sharp lines and no-nonsense Scottish architecture. The interior is surprisingly light, with decent stained glass that catches the afternoon sun well.

You're looking at maybe twenty minutes inside if you're genuinely interested in the fixtures and fittings, less if you're just passing through. The stone carvings and period details reward a proper look, though it's not the sort of place that'll keep you rooted for hours. It works best as part of a town wander rather than a destination trip - tick it off alongside the harbour walk and a decent chip lunch.

Families with older kids will find it interesting enough; younger ones might fidget. Local historians and anyone into 19th-century church architecture will get more from a visit. It's the kind of building you appreciate for what it represents about the town's Victorian prosperity rather than for being dramatically ornate.

Down On The Farm sits just four and a half miles south, so if you're basing yourself there for a Fraserburgh break, Central Church makes an easy town-centre call. Worth a look if you're already in town, but don't drive out from elsewhere specially for it. Fraserburgh itself has enough going on - the old harbour, the fishing museum - to make a half-day worthwhile.
