Caistor Library

You won't find queues or tourist crowds at Caistor Library - just a proper working library in this small Lincolnshire market town, quietly going about its business. The building itself is unremarkable from the outside, but step in and you've got a solid local collection: reference materials on the area's history, a decent selection of fiction and non-fiction, and the kind of peaceful reading room that's become harder to find these days.

It's the sort of place that matters most to locals - families picking up children's books, older residents catching up on newspapers, students using the computers. Not a destination attraction, then. But if you're staying at Wolds View Country Park just down the road, or any of the caravan sites near Market Rasen, and you need to escape the weather for a couple of hours, it's genuinely useful. Free wi-fi, toilets, and a staff who know the area well enough to point you toward the decent pubs and walks once you've had your fill of books.

Open Monday to Saturday 9am-5pm, Sunday and bank holidays 10am-4pm. Admission is free. Honestly, don't go out of your way for it - but if you're based nearby and want an indoor option on a drizzly afternoon, you could do far worse. The real Caistor pull is the town itself and access to the Wolds walking country. The library is just the backup plan, and a decent one at that.
