Bryn Yr Hen Wr

The walk up Bryn Yr Hen Wr is a proper Welsh hill scramble - nothing dramatic, but it delivers views that make the effort worthwhile. Starting from near Betws-y-Coed, you're looking at a straightforward ascent through moorland and scrubby vegetation, the kind of terrain that rewards a decent pair of boots.

It's not a technical climb. What makes it special is the vantage point once you're up there - you get a genuine sense of the surrounding peaks and valleys rolling away toward Snowdonia proper. On a clear day, which admittedly isn't guaranteed in North Wales, the perspectives are cracking.
