About Bryn Cedni
It's the kind of hill that works brilliantly if you're camping at one of the nearby sites - Cosmos Camping and Aber Glamping are both within five miles - and fancy a couple of hours out without overdoing it. Families with older kids will manage it fine; younger ones might find the final push a bit steep for what's otherwise an easy approach. The footpath itself is straightforward enough, though boggy patches can catch you out after rain.
There's no visitor centre or facilities at the top, so bring water. The walk takes roughly an hour to the summit and the same back down, leaving you plenty of afternoon for exploring Llandovery itself - a handsome market town worth a proper wander. Time it for late afternoon and you'll catch the light catching the valley floor, which is when it really sings.
Free to access, naturally. Go in spring when the lower slopes are covered in gorse, or autumn when the colours are dramatic. Summer can feel a bit ordinary up there.
