Broome Village Sign

The village sign at Broome is one of those things you'd miss entirely if you weren't looking for it - which is precisely why it's worth the detour east of Bungay. It's a proper piece of Norfolk folk art, hand-painted and local in the way that matters, sitting quietly at the village entrance like a small declaration of character. The sign tells you something about the place and the people who live there, without any of the tourist polish you'd expect elsewhere.

It's not a destination in itself - you won't spend hours here - but if you're based at one of the nearby campsites, particularly Wardley Hill just up the road, it's a lovely five-minute wander to see what a community has chosen to say about itself. The sign celebrates the village's identity in paint and wood, and there's something genuinely charming about that commitment to place that you don't find in chain tourism.
