It's a straightforward ascent from the town, taking about forty minutes if you're not dawdling, and the summit itself is modest but genuine, with enough space to sit and catch your breath before heading back down.

This is walker territory, really. Not a tourist attraction with a visitor centre or a car park - just a hill that locals know and visitors ought to. The views are the whole point, and they're worth the effort. Families with older kids will manage it fine; younger ones might find it a bit of a slog without much to do once you're up there beyond looking about.

It slots nicely into a Ludlow-based holiday if you're staying at Monstay Farm Campsite just down the road, or any of the other caravan parks scattered across the area. You can knock it out before breakfast and still have the afternoon free for exploring the town proper or tackling longer walks in the Shropshire Hills nearby. Honestly, if you're camping in the area and the weather's decent, don't skip it.
