Bridge Hill

The walk up Bridge Hill rewards you with proper panoramic views across the Harrogate district - moorland stretching away in all directions, with clear days offering sightlines toward Pendle Hill. It's a modest peak by Lake District standards, but don't let that put you off. The approach is straightforward, taking somewhere between 45 minutes and an hour depending on your pace and how many times you stop to catch your breath on the steeper sections.

This is walkers' territory, full stop. You won't find facilities at the summit or anywhere near it, so come prepared with water and something to eat. The ground underfoot can be boggy in places - proper Yorkshire moorland conditions - so decent boots aren't optional. Families with younger children might find the climb a bit much unless they're keen types, but teenagers and regular walkers will get on fine with it.
