Bramptons Hill

You won't find Bramptons Hill marked on many tourist maps, which is precisely why it's worth the detour from Northampton. This modest peak offers one of the better vantage points across the Northamptonshire countryside - the sort of spot where you can actually see the landscape roll away properly, rather than just wander around guessing where you are.

The walk itself is straightforward enough for families, though it's not a major undertaking. Allow an hour or so if you're not rushing, maybe less if you're just after the views and a bit of fresh air. There's something satisfying about climbing somewhere that isn't plastered with visitor facilities and car parks - just a proper hill and the space to breathe.

If you're basing yourself at one of the nearby parks - Covert Farm or Moon Valley Glamping Retreat are within five miles - this works well as a morning outing. It pairs nicely with a proper explore of Northampton itself rather than being a destination that eats up your whole day. Best tackled in decent weather when the views actually justify the effort. Muddy conditions make it less appealing, and frankly, there's not much to do up there once you've taken in the outlook.

Not a bucket-list hill by any means, but solid if you're after some genuine countryside walking without the crowds. The kind of place locals know and outsiders miss.
