You've got proper working boats alongside leisure vessels, a working harbour atmosphere that feels genuine rather than theme-park staged. It's a place to walk, grab a coffee, watch the activity, and genuinely understand why Boston mattered as a port.

There's no admission charge - it's open access along the waterside. The walk takes as long as you want it to, but most people give it thirty minutes to an hour, particularly if you stop at one of the cafes or restaurants facing the water. The light here is lovely in late afternoon, golden and easy. Kids won't be bored for that window of time, especially if boats are coming and going, though it's not an all-day destination on its own.

What makes it worth including in a Lincolnshire holiday is that it sits properly within Boston town, so it connects to the medieval feel of St Botolph's Church and the wider town centre rather than being an isolated attraction. If you're staying at Orchard Holiday Park or Appletree Holiday Park - both within three miles - it's an easy drive or even a decent walk into town. Big Sky Hideaway, a touch further out at 4.7 miles, works just as well as a base for exploring the area.

Combine it with Boston's town centre and the Witham Tidal Bore if conditions allow. It's a real place doing real things, not a staged experience. That's what makes it worth your time.
