Boston Cemetery

This 22-acre nature reserve on the edge of the Lincolnshire market town has quietly become one of the county's better-kept wildlife havens, with mature trees, wildflower meadows, and ponds that attract everything from dragonflies to occasional kingfishers. You're essentially walking through Victorian gravestones and modern memorials surrounded by proper woodland - it's peaceful and slightly melancholic in the best way.

Walkers will appreciate the gentle paths that loop through the site without any sense of hurrying. It's not a destination that demands hours - you'll cover it comfortably in 45 minutes to an hour - but it's the sort of place you'll find yourself lingering. Spring brings bluebells and nesting birds; autumn offers muted colours and mushrooms. Children find the ponds interesting enough, though they might get restless if you're aiming for a long stroll.

The real draw is how it slots into a Lincolnshire park holiday. Boston itself is only 10 minutes' drive away, making it easy to combine with time at one of the nearby parks. Orchard Holiday Park and Appletree Holiday Park both sit around 3-4 miles out, while Big Sky Hideaway and Long Acres are slightly further but excellent bases. The cemetery works brilliantly as a morning excursion before heading back for lunch, or a late-afternoon wander when the light softens.
