Bodigga Cliff

The cliffs at Bodigga rise up dramatically from the Cornish coast just outside Looe, offering proper dramatic geology and coastal views without the crowds you'd fight elsewhere. This is a nature reserve, so it's about watching the landscape rather than queuing for attractions - the jagged rock formations and the way the land drops away to the sea make it worth a walk at any time of year.

Walkers will get the most from it. The clifftop paths are straightforward enough, and you're rewarded with sightlines across the bay. Birdwatchers and anyone interested in geology will find plenty to occupy themselves. There's no visitor centre or café, which means you're genuinely out in nature rather than being sold an experience.

It's free to access, and you can spend anywhere from 45 minutes to a couple of hours depending on how much you want to poke around. Spring and early summer are when the wildflowers are on, which lifts the whole thing. Avoid high wind days if you've got small children - the cliffs aren't fenced and the paths run close to the edge.

If you're based at one of the nearby parks - Waterside or Tregoad are both within walking distance of Looe town centre - Bodigga works well as a morning walk before heading into the town for lunch. It's the sort of place that feels like proper Cornwall rather than the honeypot stops, and it's worth the short drive from wherever you're staying.
