Blockley, St Peter's & St Paul's Church, Father Brown

The church sits at the heart of Blockley village, a proper Cotswold stone affair that's instantly recognisable if you've watched any Father Brown on the telly. St Peter's & St Paul's is the one they use for exterior shots, all honey-coloured walls and a sturdy tower that catches the afternoon light beautifully. Inside, it's a working parish church - Victorian restoration done well, with decent stained glass and the kind of peaceful quiet you don't get in towns.

Father Brown fans will make a pilgrimage here. There's something satisfying about standing where the film crew set up, even if the actual drama happens onscreen rather than in the nave. But honestly, you don't need to have watched a single episode to appreciate what's here. The church itself is worth twenty minutes of your time - the craftsmanship is solid, and Blockley village around it is genuinely pretty without feeling touristy.
