About Black Edge - Summit
Walkers will get the most from this one. The ridge walk itself is proper refreshing on a clear day, with views rolling out towards Macclesfield and back towards Buxton. Kids will manage it fine if they're used to hills - the gradient's never punishing - though there's nothing to do once you're up there except look around and eat a sandwich. No facilities, so bring water.
Bit steep for what is essentially moorland scenery, if I'm honest. You're not going to stumble across anything remarkable at the summit - no monument, no shelter, just the fell itself. But if you're staying at one of the caravan parks near Buxton - Lime Tree Holiday Park or Buxton Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite are close enough - it's a solid half-day walk that justifies the trip. Spring and autumn are best; summer gets thick with walkers and the moorland can feel samey, while winter wind can be genuinely unpleasant up here.
Free to access, obviously. No café, no visitor centre. Just put on decent boots and go.
