Train connections are excellent. Chelford and Mobberley stations put you within easy reach, while Manchester is under an hour by road. The Peak District National Park starts just east of town - you can be walking proper hills within 20 minutes.

Staying at one of the local parks makes perfect sense. You avoid Manchester's hotel prices while having the countryside right on your doorstep. Morning mist often hangs over the lakes and woodlands like Deans Rough and Chapel Wood. By afternoon, you could be browsing Macclesfield's antique shops or taking the train into Manchester for a show.
