About Belles Knott
The summit itself is modest, nothing showy, but on a clear day you get an honest view south over the valley and across to the Coniston fells. On a damp day, which is most days up here, it's all a bit mysterious and moody. Worth it either way.
Walkers with some experience will find this rewarding, particularly families wanting something more challenging than a gentle lakeside stroll but less serious than Pike o'Stickle or Bowfell looming above. The scramble near the top is genuine enough to add a bit of interest without being genuinely technical.
If you're based at Great Langdale Campsite or Great Langdale Glamping - both right at the valley head - you can be on this within half an hour of leaving your pitch. Lakeside Retreat Glamping over towards Ambleside is a bit further out, but still within easy reach for a morning hike.
Go in the morning if you can. The valley fills with walkers heading to the bigger hills, and an early start means you've got the fell largely to yourself. Bring proper boots - the descent is slippery when wet, which it often is.
