Battery Gardens

The clifftop walk at Battery Gardens gives you proper views across Torbay - the sort of vistas that make you understand why Brixham's been a fishing port for centuries. It's a modest nature reserve perched above the town, nothing vast, but the coastal path here is genuinely worth an hour of your time if you're staying at South Bay or Waterside holiday parks just down the road.

You'll find wildflowers in season, coastal scrub, and the kind of craggy Devon shoreline that photographs well without trying. The walking is straightforward - mostly level, some gentle ups and downs. On a clear day the views stretch across the bay towards Torquay. It's the sort of place where you notice things: seabirds, the geology of the cliffs themselves, how the light changes across the water. Not a destination in itself if you're coming from far, but if you're based at one of the nearby caravan parks for a week, it'll fill a morning nicely.
