You'll find the trailhead marked clearly enough, and from there the walk takes you through former mining landscapes, past old pit infrastructure, and into countryside that's slowly reclaiming the industrial past.

If you're walking for walking's sake, the Archaeological Way itself is the draw rather than the starting point. Local history buffs will appreciate seeing the physical remnants of Nottinghamshire's coal industry laid out underfoot, but the pit site isn't a destination in itself - no visitor facilities, no café, just access to the trail. The walk appeals to serious ramblers and those interested in industrial archaeology, less so to families wanting a quick outing.
