About An Garadh
What makes it worthwhile is the view once you're up there. You get decent vistas across Argyll, with the Cowal hills beyond and decent sightlines down towards Lochgilphead itself. On a clear day it's worth the slog. On a grey one, well, you'll be cloud-wrapped and slightly annoyed at yourself for not checking the forecast.
It's a walker's hill more than anything else - fit families could manage it, but young children would probably find it a bit of a plod without much payoff at the summit. History buffs won't get much from it either, unless you're into the raw topography of Argyll. The real crowd here is fell walkers after a couple of hours on their feet with some Lochside views thrown in.
If you're staying at The Pod Over By just down the road, An Garadh makes an honest half-day out - nothing spectacular, nothing to plan a holiday around, but solid exercise with proper Scottish hills to show for it. Go when the weather forecast actually looks decent, not as a backup plan.
