About Am Bàrr
You get the sense you're actually somewhere wild here, even though you're barely an hour from civilisation. The peak itself is rocky and exposed, which means the wind can be brisk, so bring a windproof even in decent weather. Walkers will get more from this than families with small children - the path's well-trodden but there's no hand-holding and it does get boggy in places.
If you're based at The Pod Over By down the road, this makes an excellent morning outing before heading to one of the Loch Fyne spots for lunch. The whole thing takes a couple of hours if you're unhurried about it and want to sit around at the top taking in the scenery. Free to access, naturally - it's a Scottish hill. Best visited when the cloud's not sitting on the summit, which in Argyll can be a bit of a gamble depending on the season.
