All Saints, Kenton

The church sits quietly at the edge of Kenton village, just a short drive east of Woodbridge. All Saints is one of those proper Suffolk churches that rewards a proper look - flint and stone work, a round tower that's genuinely medieval, and interiors that tell you something about the people who've worshipped here for centuries.

What strikes you first is how unselfconscious it all is. No gift shop, no velvet ropes, just a working parish church that happens to be architecturally significant. The round tower is the real draw for architecture enthusiasts - that style is fairly specific to Norfolk and Suffolk, and it's got real age on it. Inside, there's decent medieval work if you know what to look for: fonts, some decent windows, the sort of details that make church historians spend an hour in here quite happily.

It's the kind of place best visited on a quiet weekday afternoon rather than a Sunday service, unless you're genuinely keen on worship. Allow thirty minutes to an hour if you're actually interested in the building itself. If you're just passing through, five minutes will do it.

Family groups with young kids might find it a bit slow unless there's real interest in old buildings. But if you're doing a walking holiday in the area - and Savage Glamping is only a few miles away - it's absolutely worth the detour. The village itself is peaceful, and the church gives you a genuine sense of how Suffolk has been shaped over time.
