All Saints Church, Bubwith

The church rises from Bubwith village like something from a proper medieval postcard, though most visitors driving through East Yorkshire on their way to York completely miss it. All Saints is a 14th-century building with a decent tower and some genuinely interesting stonework if you know where to look - the kind of place where you'll spend twenty minutes and actually come away having learned something about English church architecture rather than just ticking a box.

Inside, there's enough to hold your attention without feeling overstuffed. The windows catch light nicely in the afternoon, and the whole atmosphere is refreshingly quiet.
