Hoe mill lock

Lovely location, shame no caff. You need to drive up river one lock for a large cafe/toilets etc.

I absolutely love it here, people paddle boarding and on canoe's. I typically fish as part of the caa club we can fish the river for free. The only small thing would be that if you want to take a walk there are lots of overgrown stinging nettles that need to be cleared properly and the gate to get in is tiny for anyone wanting to carry equipment for fishing or canoeing through. Great place to start off a lazy paddle on the River Chelmer. It gets very busy with parking on a small lane so get there early. Nice grass area next to the lock to set up with a short walk down to a small launching jetty if you are setting off downstream.

Used the lock as a starting point for paddleboarding on the Chelmer... Just mind the swans down river especially if they take a disliking to your board.

I went kayak there. It is a nice litle river channel to walk and enjoy time with nature. I hope you will love the pictures.
