Wynn Gardens Park

The path down to Wynn Gardens Park takes you through proper woodland before you hit the valley floor and realise what you're looking at - a genuine working water mill tucked into the Conwy landscape with acres of riverside gardens spreading out either side. It's the kind of place that makes you slow down without even trying.

The gardens themselves are manageable on foot, with walking trails that follow the mill stream through native trees and alongside planted beds that work with the seasons rather than against them. You'll see the old mill machinery if you get close enough, and the whole setup feels like something locals stumbled upon rather than something designed by committee. The river is the real draw - there's something hypnotic about water running past old stone, and the birds take full advantage of the habitat.

Walkers and nature photographers will get the most from it, though it's quiet enough that families with younger kids won't feel rushed or crowded. Allow an hour if you're just passing through, longer if you're the type to sit and sketch or watch for wildlife. The nearest town is Abergele, a few miles down the road, which puts you in easy reach of several caravan parks - Bron-y-Wendon and The Beach are both under three miles away if you're basing yourselves nearby.
