About Wind Hill
It's a proper hike rather than a casual stroll - most people allow 45 minutes to an hour from town, depending on fitness. The path narrows in places and gets boggy after rain, so decent boots matter. Children who enjoy hiking will get something out of this, but it's not the sort of walk where there's much to do once you reach the top beyond catching your breath and taking photos.
The real appeal is that it's close to Lynton itself - literally on the doorstep - making it ideal for a morning outing if you're staying at Lynmouth Holiday Retreat down the coast. Combine it with a walk around the Valley of the Rocks (which is much easier and frankly more interesting) and you've got a solid day sorted.
Free to access, naturally. Go early if possible; the path gets muddy and slippery when others have tramped through after wet weather. Best in autumn or early spring when it's not scorching but still clear enough to see something worthwhile.
