The Treasury sits within Winchester College itself, and it's genuinely worth a detour if you're staying at any of the caravan parks nearby - particularly Holden Farm or Hookpit Farm, both of which are within easy striking distance. You'll find an unexpectedly impressive collection of ecclesiastical plate, manuscripts, and objects that trace the school's seven-hundred-year history. The silver alone justifies the visit.

It's not a massive operation - you won't need more than an hour, ninety minutes if you're the type who reads every label. The real draw is seeing how a medieval institution actually operated: the vestments, the communion silver, the illuminated accounts books. Families with older children will find it absorbing; younger ones might flag quickly, which is fine because Winchester itself demands attention too.
