The paths wind through mixed woodland that feels genuinely untended in the best way, not manicured or over-managed.

It's ideal for walkers who want a proper woodland experience without the crowds you'd get at somewhere more famous. Families with kids aged five and up will enjoy it too, though there's nothing flashy to keep under-fives entertained beyond sticks and mud. Most visits take an hour to ninety minutes depending on which trails you follow.

Being so close to Bradford-on-Avon - literally a stone's throw - it works perfectly as a morning or afternoon slot on a park holiday. If you're based at Widbrook Barns, which sits practically on the doorstep, you could honestly pop in multiple times without it feeling samey. Entry is free, which is brilliant. The Wildlife Trust does excellent work here with minimal fuss. Go in spring or early summer when the wildflowers are up and the birds are vocal. Autumn's decent too if you like that golden light through the trees. The paths can get boggy after heavy rain, so wellies might be worth the bother.
