White Mill Dog Park

The White Mill Dog Park sits just outside Sandwich, a proper working mill that's been converted into a space where dogs can actually be dogs. It's a relief, frankly - most dog parks are just muddy fields with a few posts. This one has actual character, the mill building itself lending some real substance to what could otherwise be a forgettable stop.

Your dog gets a secure, fenced area to run about without the constant anxiety of them bolting toward the road. The space is decent-sized, and you'll often find other dogs there, so if your pooch is social, they'll have company. The setting against the old mill building means it's not completely soulless - there's something about historic structures that makes even a dog toilet break feel less tedious.

It's free, which is just how it should be. You won't need more than twenty minutes to half an hour here unless your dog is particularly antisocial and needs serious off-lead time. If you're staying at Sandwich Leisure Holiday Park just half a mile away, or any of the glamping spots dotted around - Ham Hideaway, Turners Folly Field - this is genuinely useful. Better than trudging your spaniel along the high street of Sandwich itself.

Won't be anyone's main reason for a Kent holiday, obviously. But if you're a dog owner and you're basing yourselves in Sandwich, you'll be quietly grateful it's there. The dog will definitely prefer it to sitting in a caravan all day.
