Wells Hill

Wells Hill sits just outside Alton and honestly, it's the sort of spot you'd walk past without thinking twice if someone hadn't told you it was worth the climb. But get yourself up there and you've got proper views across Hampshire - nothing dramatic, but on a clear day the sweep of fields and woodland feels genuinely satisfying after a twenty-minute trudge from the car park.

It's a straightforward woodland walk rather than a scramble. The paths are well-trodden and muddy in patches, especially after rain. Takes about forty minutes to the summit if you're meandering, less if you're on a mission. The actual peak is marked by a small clearing - not dramatic, but functional.

Walkers will get the most from this one. It's proper leg-stretching terrain without requiring fell boots or technical know-how. Families with younger kids might find the return journey a bit dull - there's no summit cafe or play area, just trees and views.
