Waterheath Dog Meadow

A flat stretch of Norfolk meadowland where the River Waveney meanders through, Waterheath Dog Meadow is exactly what it sounds like - a place to let your dog properly run. The ground's open and grassy, with water access if your dog fancies a paddle, and enough space that you won't feel hemmed in even when other people show up with their own animals.

It's not a dramatic landscape. No viewpoint moments, no tearooms, no interpretation boards. Just good walking country if you've got a four-legged friend needing proper exercise. The nearest settlement is Beccles, just a few miles south, which keeps it accessible without being swamped.

If you're staying at one of the nearby parks - Safari tent glamping at Dawn Chorus Holidays (4.7 miles away) or Wardley Hill Campsite (5 miles) - this meadow becomes genuinely useful rather than a detour. Dogs get their space to roam properly. Walkers get a peaceful route without the commercial bustle of honeypot spots.

Allow an hour or so depending on how long your dog can handle the terrain. The flatness means it's manageable for most ages, though there's nothing to hold a young child's attention for long if they're not keen on splashing about.
