It's free to access and you can spend anywhere from forty minutes to a couple of hours depending on how deep you fancy going into the trees.

The main appeal is straightforward: if you want a woodland walk without the National Trust visitor centre crowds, this delivers. The paths are decent enough underfoot, though muddy patches catch you out after rain. There's no café, no facilities to speak of, no interpretation boards telling you what tree is which. You just walk. Families with young kids will manage fine on the main tracks, though toddlers might find the distances a bit wearing. History types won't find much - it's a commercial plantation, not an ancient woodland. But if you're the sort who appreciates the smell of pine and doesn't need entertainment laid on, you'll get something from it.
