It's the kind of place that works brilliantly for a morning wander before heading into town for lunch, or as a proper half-day excursion if you're keen on spotting woodpeckers and roe deer.

Families with younger kids will manage the easier routes without complaint, though there's not much in the way of structured play or facilities - you're here for open air and riverside views, not entertainment. History buffs might be interested in the fact that the area has been managed for conservation for decades, but don't expect interpretation boards or a visitor centre. Just you, the water, and whatever birds decide to show up.
