Turners Field

The open expanse of Turners Field near Ashford is one of those places that sneaks up on you - nothing fancy, just a proper bit of Kent countryside that's genuinely pleasant to walk through. It's the kind of spot locals know about and visitors often miss, which is rather the point. The field itself offers long views across the Weald, and on a clear day you can see well beyond the immediate flatlands. Walking here beats trudging round a museum if the weather's decent.

This is walker territory, really. Families with young kids might find an hour enough before the novelty wears off, but anyone who enjoys a proper countryside ramble will appreciate the space and the lack of crowds. The nearest substantial town is Ashford, which means you're far enough out to feel genuinely rural without being completely cut off.

If you're staying at one of the glamping sites nearby - Wood View Farm is just 2.7 miles away and Wheatfields a bit further - Turners Field makes for an easy morning or late afternoon walk. Both sites offer that comfortable outdoor experience without roughing it, so you can combine a bit of field wandering with proper accommodation. No cafe, no facilities that I'm aware of, so bring what you need. Go early or late in the day when the light's best and the place feels even quieter. Entry appears to be free, which makes it worth the detour from your park base if you fancy stretching your legs beyond the glamping grounds.
