Tulach Hill

The walk up Tulach Hill rewards you with one of the best views across Pitlochry and the surrounding valleys - assuming you don't mind a fairly stiff climb for modest height. It's only about 323 metres, but the path is relentless in places, and you'll feel your legs working on the way up.

What you get at the top is proper worth the effort: panoramic views sweeping across the Tay Valley, with Ben Vrackie dominating the horizon. On a clear day the visibility stretches for miles. The hill sits practically on Pitlochry's doorstep, making it ideal for anyone staying in town or at the nearby caravan parks - Blair Castle Caravan Park and Faskally Woods Holiday Park are both within a couple of miles.

It takes roughly 45 minutes to an hour to reach the summit depending on your pace and fitness. The route itself is straightforward enough, though muddy stretches are common even after light rain. Families with older children will manage fine; younger ones might find the constant gradient tiring. Walkers and hill enthusiasts get the most from this one - it's not a destination for a casual stroll, but it's accessible enough that you don't need serious mountaineering experience.
