Queen's View

You'll find yourself standing at roughly 350 metres above sea level, looking down at one of Scotland's most photographed vistas. It's the kind of view that makes you understand why Queen Victoria stopped here back in the 1860s and decided it was worth naming.

Getting there means a short walk from the car park, nothing too strenuous. The viewpoint itself is open access, free to visit any time. Most people allow twenty minutes here - enough to take photos, catch your breath, and absorb the scale of the landscape. Early morning light is genuinely special if you can manage it, though midday crowds can be intense in summer.

Walkers heading out from Pitlochry will find this a natural waypoint rather than a full day's objective. History enthusiasts get a mild buzz from the Victoria connection, but don't expect interpretation boards or visitor facilities. This is about the view, full stop.

If you're staying at Faskally Woods or Blair Castle Caravan Park, you're minutes away - worth combining with a walk to Killiecrankie or a visit to Pitlochry itself. The viewpoint works well as a morning stop before exploring the Tay Valley properly. Weather matters hugely here. On a clear day, it justifies the short detour. On a damp Scottish afternoon, it's a bit of a letdown and you'll want to move on.
