Tregeseal East Stone Circle

The stones at Tregeseal stand in a proper rough circle about a mile inland from the coast near Penzance, and frankly, they demand a bit of effort to find. You're looking at nine granite uprights - some taller than others - arranged on moorland that's genuinely windswept and atmospheric. This isn't polished heritage tourism. It's Bronze Age, probably around 1500 BC, and the landscape hasn't changed much since then.

Walking out here feels genuinely time-shifted. The circle sits on open moorland with Cornish scrub and gorse, and the wind has a way of making you understand why people gathered in these spots millennia ago. It's not massive - you'll cover the site in twenty minutes if you're thorough - but it stays with you. History types will get the most from this; kids might find it interesting for ten minutes, then want moving on.

Access appears to be free and unrestricted, which is typical for Cornish stone circles on common land. The nearest parking involves a bit of a scout and a short walk across moorland - this isn't a car park situation. Roselands Caravan Camping Park is just 1.4 miles away, making it a perfect morning wander before breakfast or an evening stroll when light's low and the atmosphere's strongest.

Combine this with a coastal walk toward Mousehole or Newlyn, and you've got a proper half-day of actual Cornish exploration. Not Instagram-famous, but genuinely worth the detour.
