The woodland paths at Tregassow Wood offer proper Cornish forest walking without the crowds you'd find at the bigger tourist spots. It's genuinely quiet - the kind of place where you hear birdsong instead of other people's conversations. The trees are tall and dense enough to feel properly immersive, with decent footpaths that don't require serious hiking boots or navigation skills.

You'll get the most from this if you're after a gentle woodland stroll rather than dramatic views or a full day's expedition. An hour or so does the job nicely, though you could easily stretch it to ninety minutes if you're the type to potter about and look at moss. Families with young kids will manage fine on the main paths - it's not steep or technical. History buffs won't find much here; this is straightforward nature rather than heritage.

There's no visitor centre or facilities that I'm aware of, so come prepared. St. Erme is your nearest town for supplies, about a ten-minute drive away. If you're basing yourselves at one of the nearby caravan parks - Tollgate Farm's the top-rated option and only 6.7 miles off - this makes an easy morning or late-afternoon addition to your itinerary. The better-reviewed Treamble Valley spot, 6.5 miles away, puts you in decent striking distance too.

It's the sort of place that fills the gap between beach days and big attractions. Not dramatic enough to plan a trip around, but exactly right if you're staying locally and want an hour in the trees.
