Tramberly Cove

The walk down to Tramberly Cove catches you off guard. What looked like a modest coastal track from the clifftop opens into something genuinely special - a proper Cornish cove with golden sand, dramatic slate-grey cliffs, and the kind of quiet that makes you wonder why it isn't rammed with tourists.

It's a small beach, compact enough that you could cross it in five minutes, but that's precisely what gives it character. The sand shelves gently into the water, so it works for paddling and swimming when the tide cooperates. Rockpools scatter across the lower beach at low tide - nothing remarkable, but enough to keep children occupied for a bit.

The drive from Bodmin takes roughly forty minutes depending on which route you take. You'll need to factor in a proper walk to reach the sand - nothing brutal, but not a leisurely stroll either. Go early or late in the day if you value solitude. Summer weekends can bring crowds, though never anything like the honeypots further west.

It pairs well with inland exploring around Bodmin's quieter stretches - you get variety without straying far from your base.
